The Barn is a converted stone barn attached to the owners’ traditional 17th century farmhouse. It is furnished to a high standard.
The sitting room is upstairs to take full advantage of the views, and it has a small south-facing balcony.
Visitors have full use of informal gardens and furniture, fields and woodland, extending to 35 acres.
We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs. This is sheep country; please accept that your dogs need to be under close control. Please note that you cannot leave your dogs unattended inside or outside the Barn, but you are welcome to exercise your dog(s) in our field off the lead.
I offer a dog sitting service for individual days for a fee of £10 per dog per day. Please contact me for further details.
The majority of the land is traditional upland hay meadow with lots of beautiful wild flowers in May and June. This is cut in July, and grazed by sheep or cows in late summer. There is a substantial area of woodland and several ungrazed areas that are managed as wildlife habitats.
The farm is bounded by dry stonewalls and hedgerows.
Ladthwaite Beck creates a river wildlife corridor through the main meadow.
There is an enclosed area with an informal garden and pond, and an organic vegetable garden.
The old sheep pens at the back of the buildings are now the walled garden with a patio and furniture shared with the owner.
